The 2012 premium rates for the WELS VEBA Group Health Care Plan ("WELS VEBA" or the "Plan") are now available. You may click this link or the link at the top of the page to find the 2012 premium rates for the plan options available in your area. The 2012 WELS VEBA premium rates will increase by 8% across-the-board over the 2011 rates. The increase in health benefit costs for 2012 was actuarially projected at 10%. However, the WELS VEBA Commission decided to use Plan reserves to reduce the premium rate increase passed on to sponsoring organizations and workers. Although Plan assets will likely decrease during 2012, the WELS VEBA Commission estimates that this decision will allow the Plan to provide some rate relief during this challenging economic period but still remain well-funded to meet current and future benefit obligations.
Election period materials will be sent to all enrolled members and sponsoring organizations by November 1, and the deadline to complete election change forms will be November 30, 2011. Additional information regarding benefit changes and process changes will be sent to workers and sponsoring organizations by the end of September. The four deductible options available in 2012 will remain unchanged from 2011 options. A chart detailing each deductible option is shown below. ![]() Also note that the WELS Pension Plan 2012 annual premium rate for a full-time worker is $2,048.
